Me in Albany, Western Australia

Hi there! My name is Tim, I currently live in Perth, Western Australia, one of the most remote cities in the world. I was born in China to a typical Chinese family, all I did then was study and I didn’t have the faintest idea what Marvel and DC were. I mean of course I’d heard about Batman or Superman, but that was all I knew about them, their super-hero code names. If you asked me who Bruce Wayne was, I would probably guess some actor from England.

At the age of 14, I moved to Singapore for better education, and that was when I started getting exposed to more Western cultures. However, I still had no interest for this super-hero (or super-villain) stuff because someone introduced me to this evil thing called DOTA, which just devoured all my free time.

The turning point was probably when the very first Captain America movie came out, that was actually the first time I heard about the Avengers, I didn’t even know that Nick Fury mentioned the Avengers in the post-credit of Iron Man 1. By the way, I label myself as an Iron Man hater, never liked the guy, comics or movies, and Civil War just escalated that hatred exponentially. Anyways following the Captain America movie there was a lot of hype leading to the first Avengers movie. That movie changed my life! I mean not literally, but it opened a door for me, a door to another world, a world of super-heroes and super-villains. Ever since then my passion for Marvel has been constantly growing, and that was when I decided to start reading Marvel comics.

Another turning point came when the Batman vs Superman movie was released. Unlike a lot of people, I actually loved the movie when I walked out of the cinema. Like I said the only characters I knew from DC universe were Batman and Superman, and the movie introduced other members from the Justice League, I just had an urge to start reading DC comics and find out more about the characters.

And here I am today, still a relatively young comic reader, typing up this post to tell you my stories. It’s pretty ironic though, that I needed the help from the movies to start reading the books on which the movies were based.

One thing I didn’t mention in my story was how hard it was for me to start reading the comics. Not because I couldn’t understand them, but where the hell was I supposed to start from??? When I first decided to read, Marvel already had 70 years of publishing history, was I supposed to start from Marvel Comics #1 to understand the entire universe??? And if I had to, how was I supposed to find books that old??? I would sit in front of my laptop for hours just to research on where to start reading and how to start reading, and this probably lasted for weeks if not months.

And that was also when I found so many great blogs and websites about comics reviews and reading orders, these websites helped me tremendously when I tried to start reading. And that’s why I’m starting this site.

I wanna give back.

I wanna help new readers to start reading and enjoying comics as soon as possible so that they don’t have to go through the pain that I went through. At the same time, I wanna create a platform to meet more like-minded friends so we can have a chat and learn from each other.

If you are still reading, thank you so much for making it this far, and I hope you will have a great time browsing the blog. Happy reading! And here’s a picture of me trying to be the Hulk.
